Code No. 409.4
LICENSED EMPLOYEE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE
In the event of a death of a member of a licensed employee's immediate family, bereavement leave may be granted. Bereavement leave may be granted to a licensed employee for no more than five (5) days (limited to ten (10) days for multiple deaths resulting from a single occurrence), with "day" being defined as one work day regardless of full-time or part-time status of the employee, per occurrence, in the event of the death of an employee’s spouse, child, step-child, parent, step-parent, brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandparent, or grandchildren. Up to two (2) days may be granted to attend the funeral of other relatives and up to one (1) day to attend the funeral of a person of unusually close relationship.
It shall be within the discretion of the superintendent to determine the number of bereavement leave days to be granted.
The requirements stated in the Master Contract between employees in that certified collective bargaining unit and the board regarding the bereavement leave of such employees shall be followed.
