A Message from the Board of Education

  • February 25, 2021

Last evening, the North Polk School Board voted unanimously to approve an early retirement for Superintendent, Dr. Dan Mart.  Dr. Mart has led the School District for 13 years and in that time, the district has grown dramatically.  Dr. Mart has been instrumental in keeping up with that change, including oversight of construction of the new high school building and numerous renovations to our other district facilities.  All of this was accomplished while making sure our students continued to obtain a high quality education.  For these reasons, we want to commend Dr. Mart, thank him for his service, and wish him the very best.

In conjunction with this decision, the Board will begin work immediately to select a professional search firm to assist us with finding our next Superintendent.  Proposals have been received and a firm will be selected within a few days.

Finally, we want to give a hearty thank you to all of our staff for their hard work and dedication to our students - this last year, in particular, for the additional challenges with the pandemic.  Every single North Polk employee and volunteer provides a critical function that enables our District to achieve what we do and will lead us into the future.  We truly believe great things continue to be in store for the North Polk School District.
