Food Service

The Nutrition & Food Service department is committed to providing North Polk students and staff with nutritional, healthy meals each school day. We understand that no student can perform their best on an empty stomach. Through our daily service, we work to aid in the positive learning experience of all North Polk students.

Our team serves over 250,000 meals each year, providing breakfast and lunch to students in each of our five school buildings. The department is led by Anita Turczynski, RDN, LD, who serves as the district's Director of Nutrition.

Summer Meals

We know the summer months can cause challenges to families in our district. That’s why we wanted to make everyone aware of USDA Summer Meal Programs. This initiative is working to provide access to free meals to anyone 18 and under in Central Iowa. To access these meals, and find a site nearest to you, families may text “FOOD” to 304-304, put in your address, and the closest meal site will be sent to you.
