    SETH POLDBERG, PRINCIPAL

It is my honor to serve as the new Principal of NPHS! Our staff truly believes that ALL students can learn at high levels and we strive to accomplish this on a daily basis. As a Professional Learning Community, our school is focused on student and teacher learning as well as building a safe and collaborative climate and culture.

I am originally from Kimballton, Iowa and a graduate of Elk Horn-Kimballton High School. I earned my Bachelors degree in Social Studies Education from Wayne State College and my Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of South Dakota. Prior to becoming an administrator, I taught and coached at Guthrie Center, Bondurant-Farrar, and Carlisle.Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my wife Laura and our children Luke and Lucy. Luke will be starting Kindergarten at West Elementary and Lucy will be starting three-year-old preschool at West Elementary in a few weeks. I also enjoy golfing and cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time via email or telephone.

    Reminders From the Health Office

    !!REQUIREMENT FOR CLASS OF 2020!!

Vaccine requirements for ALL students entering 12th grade.

By Iowa law, if your 12th grader has not had their meningitis vaccine (or have an exemption form on file at school), they could be kept out of school, as early as day one of classes.

Meningococcal disease is a very serious, potentially life-threatening disease.  The meningococcal vaccine is 85 - 100 percent effective at preventing infection from the subtypes of meningococcus found in the vaccine.

The Meningitis vaccine may be obtained through your local healthcare provider or through the Polk County Health Department.

There are 3 options for students to be considered to have current immunization records for school in Iowa.
    1. Provide a copy of immunizations that are current for school requirements (includes meningitis vaccines).
    2. Provide a medical waiver; which can be obtained at your Doctor’s office or the local public health office, if there is a medical reason your child cannot receive the vaccines. This form requires a physician’s signature.
    3. Provide a religious exemption form, which can be obtained at school or your local public health office. This form requires a notary public stamp.

Please check your child’s immunization records. If they have not had the required vaccines, please set up an appointment with their health care provider to get their vaccines up-to-date as soon as possible and before the start of the 2019-2020 school year. If you do not have health insurance, you can schedule an appointment with the Polk County Health Department (515-286-3798).

**Do not wait as appointments will fill up fast and your child may not be able to see their provider in time.
