Celebrating 50 Years of North Polk FFA: A Conversation with Founding Advisor Tom Cory
During National FFA Week, we sat down with North Polk FFA’s founding advisor, Tom Cory, to look back on the program’s 50-year history.
He shared stories from the early days, including the start of the Avenue of Breeds at the Iowa State Fair, a tradition that continues strong to this day. We also revisited memorable moments like the visit from President George H.W. Bush and explored the many scrapbooks filled with decades of student achievements, awards, and memories.
Mr. Cory’s recollections give a firsthand look at how the program began in 1975 and how it has grown into the thriving chapter it is today. As we celebrate this 50th anniversary, it’s clear that North Polk FFA continues to inspire students, alumni, and the community, just as it has since day one.
