Alleman, IA—Josephine Holthus has been named the first head coach of the North Polk Girls Wrestling program, marking a new era as the program officially begins this winter following its approval this past spring.

Holthus brings valuable coaching experience, having volunteered at Saydel High School, served as head coach at East Union, and led the Twin River Nationals to multiple top finishes, producing 26 All-Americans over three years.

She also saw success on the mat as a two-time IWCOA state placer, Iowa/USA state champion, and multiple-time All-American in high school. Holthus competed at the NCAA level for two years and earned NCAA Scholar All-American honors. On the international stage, she represented the USA twice on the Women’s Beach Wrestling World Team, finishing ninth in 2022 and sixth in 2023 at the world championships.

The future of girls wrestling at North Polk begins now, with Coach Holthus ready to lead the way.
