North Polk Nutrition Department Wins Healthy Meals Incentives Recognition Award

We are excited to share that the North Polk Nutrition Department has been recognized with a Healthy Meals Incentives Recognition Award for our efforts to improve the nutritional quality of school meals and to create a more engaging, student-centered dining experience.
Presented by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) in collaboration with Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK), North Polk received the Breakfast Trailblazer Award in the small/rural schools category. This recognition celebrates schools that are leading the way in providing healthier school breakfasts while also fostering student involvement.
North Polk was recognized for introducing fun, nutritious new recipes and building student engagement through creative activities, such as themed breakfast weeks supported by high school students at the elementary level. These efforts helped make school meals more appealing and interactive while meeting important nutritional goals.
As an award recipient, North Polk is receiving national and local recognition, along with travel stipends to attend the Healthy Meals Summit. We are proud of this achievement and of our food service team's dedication, creativity, and commitment to supporting student health through nutritious and engaging school meals.
