This weekend, for the first time, North Polk will host the inaugural North Polk Marching Invitational! We are proud to host this first-ever event, the beginning of a new tradition that celebrates the incredible talent, dedication, and spirit of some of the best student musicians from across our state.

The competition will be hosted in Alleman on Saturday, October 4th. The event kicks off with the Opening Ceremony at 2:25 PM, and throughout the afternoon and evening, 23 schools will take the field to perform. The event will conclude with two special exhibition performances: one from our very own Comet Marching Band and another from the Iowa State University Marching Band.

Parking Information

Parking will be available on-site, but with many visitors expected, additional parking has been arranged at nearby locations:

  • Harmon Agricultural Buildings (approximately 2 miles west of campus)

  • Keystone Church (if needed, approximately 4 miles southeast of campus)

A shuttle bus will run continuously throughout the day between these lots and the event site.

Campus Access & Activity
Please be aware that the Alleman campus will be very busy on Saturday, October 4, as we are expecting over 10,000 visitors, including staff, students, volunteers, families, and fans. There will be heavy traffic, bus and vehicle flow, and high foot traffic across campus throughout the day and late into the evening. We strongly encourage all staff, families, and community members to plan accordingly.

Be Part of the Day – Volunteers Needed
Hosting an event of this scale is an incredible opportunity, and also a big lift. We are still looking for volunteers to help with various roles throughout the day. If you are interested and able to help out, visit the sign-up link below. Whether you can give an hour or the full day, your help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you to the directors, staff, families, and most importantly—the students—for the hard work and passion that bring events like this to life. We look forward to seeing you there and hope you'll join us in making this a memorable and successful launch of what we believe will become a proud North Polk tradition.
