Central Celebrates PBIS Goal with Pajamas and Popcorn.
On Wednesday, March 9th, Central Elementary hosted their school-wide celebration for achieving their PBIS goal. Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a philosophy intended to guide the behavioral support and social culture needed for all students to achieve social, emotional, and academic success. One of the key points in the PBIS rejuvenation roll-out is to include more celebrations to recognize all the awesome things our students are doing. This time they celebrated with a pajama day and popcorn for the whole building. Each class added Comet Coupons to a container placed at the front of the school. When it was completely filled, they celebrated. Students can earn Comet coupons for being safe, respectful, and responsible. The students save or spend these coupons in various ways in their classrooms. Their teacher then collects these coupons to earn a class reward or celebration. Once a class earns their class reward, the tickets all go into a tub for a schoolwide celebration. Central filled up their tub recently and the school earned popcorn and pajama day! Mrs. Beck's class then counted all of the coupons. The students earned 12,257 coupons since winter break!
